Lead, Follow or Get Left Behind

In every conquestful business it is clear that in that respect are two type of mess; attractors and followers. It is not hard to be a follower if the right leader is present. Effective management and leading skills are vital assets to the success of a business. An argument can be raised whether or not a person is born with leadership skills or if the ability to learn them is attainable. I believe that well-nigh people are natural born leaders with the God-given talents to be in a management position. For those like myself who are unsure if they fix what it takes to be a manager or leader, there are self assessments available that ready been associated with evaluating leadership strengths and weaknesses. These self assessments correlated with six core competencies that have been associated with managers and leaders.
The competencies available to develop leadership and management skills are Communication, Planning and Administration, Teamwork, Strategic Actions, Multicultural and Self-Management.



from each one competency needs a high degree of ascendence to be effective in managing and leading and each have unique characteristics that have been identified as a timberland of managerial competencies (Hellriegel, Jackson, & Slocum, 2008, p. 32). In an overall self assessment to cook my overall profile on the above six competencies, on all except the Self-Management Competency, I scored “generally weak simply performing satisfactorily or better on some of the characteristics” (Hellriegel et al., 2008, p. 36). For the Self-Management Competency, “I scored above average and outstanding on a number of the associated characteristics” (Hellriegel et al., 2008, p. 36)
