Fragments is a fabrication told through the eyes of a young boy in a wartime death camp. The boy is almost portrayed as naïve, not knowing much of what is going on around him and not understanding. There are several encounters shown surrounded by the boy and soldiers and some other people where the boy asks questions that the reader whitethorn feel the boy should have known.
One of the most important aspects of Fragments is the way the story is actually written---eventually tying in to the bitterness that the story is false. The story does not have much historical background information in it. The reader is left, a nap of the time, to fill in the blanks of who/what/where..etc. The childs eye consume helps to congeal the stories of suffering and misery in to very sanctioned terms.
