One way in which psychologists collect selective in orchestrateation on people is by asking them questions. This can be through in varying detail from the superficial watch over of many people to the in-depth assessment of individuals and can be done within the context of an experiment, or as a form of research in its own right. Self-report involves asking people somewhat their behaviour, thoughts, feelings and attitudes.

QUESTIONNAIRES these have the quest features:

? Structured hearings there is a fixed set of questions and a fixed set of possible responses for the interviewee to choose from. This is the type of interview mostly used in surveys.

? Semi-structured interviews this contains guidelines for questions to be asked, but express and timing are left up to the interviewer and replies may be open-ended. These are typically used in body of work interviews.

? Clinical interviews the interviewer starts with some predetermined questions but further questions are developed on the spot in response to the interviewees answers. It is how a GP might interview a patient.
