INTRODUCTION:

The main reason is because the death penalty is so costly. Secondly, we are non gaining anything from capital punishment because crime rates have not gone down. Thirdly, mentally ill patients may unfairly be put to death and lastly, sentencing a criminal the death penalty also creates sympathy for them and shifts the sympathy of the victim and their family onto the murderer.
